How do I register with LCS?
If you are new to LCS and not written an exam with us before, please register through LCMS. You will need an exam session ID number from your training provider and an email address to register for an exam.
If you have written and passed an exam with LCS in the past, you will have been assigned a certificate number, found on the bottom left of your certificate. This number is necessary as proof that you have the prerequisites required for other ITILĀ® courses. Login to LCMS and always review the information in your candidate profile to ensure it’s up to date.
What are the system requirements for a Web-based Exams?
The System Requirements are contained within the first email sent to your Proctor, including OS, browser requirements, etc.
What is a candidate/certificate number?
Once you have passed your first ITILĀ® exam, you are assigned a candidate/certificate number, found on the bottom left side of your certificate. This number remains the same for all ITILĀ® courses.
How do I get my candidate/certificate number so I can take another course/exam?
Email exams@loyalistexams.com and provide your name, birth date, city and country of birth to verify your identity. We will then send you the certificate/candidate number to be used for every ITILĀ® exam.
I forgot my password. How do I get into my candidate profile?
Login to LCMS. Enter your email address and click on Forgot Password. The password will be sent to the email address originally provided.
How do I change my password?
Click on Update My Profile on the left navigation bar. Enter your old password and new password and then retype your new passowrd to confirm.
Where can I find an Accredited Training Provider?
Use the Search Engine on the Exam Students main page to find your local Accredited Training Provider.
Can I take ITILĀ® classes remotely?
Yes. Some accredited training providers do have virtual classrooms, CBT (computer based training) and other delivery methods.
When do I receive my certificate and pin?
Exams are marked within 48 hours of receiving it at our office and an automatic relpy is sent out by email. If successful, the certificate and pin are mailed out the same day.
What do I do if I lost my certificate?
Email results@loyalistexams.com to request a new certificate. There is a $20 USD replacement fee.
What do I do if I never received my certificate?
Email results@loyalistexams.com with your date, city and country of birth, including full mailing address stating you have not received your certificate. If your request is more than six (6) months from the date you passed the exam, a $20 USD replacement fee is required.
Why do I need a proctor?
To monitor the exam and to ensure all copies of the exam are returned to us, including any extra written material (paper-based exams) and to ensure exams are not copied (web-based exams).
How do I get my name added to the ITILĀ® Successful Candidate registry?
Before taking an exam, tick the box with the option of adding your name to the Successful Candidate Registry contained within your candidate profile. If this is not selected prior to the exam and you would still like your name added, email lcsservicedesk@loyalistexams.com. Pass or fail is displayed, not the percentage achieved.
Which books are covered in the Foundation exam?
All five (5) books are covered. We recommend that you take a course with an accredited training provider who will condense the information during the training to eliminate having to read all five (5) books.
How do I order books/study material?
There are many resources available including itSMF Canada where you can find information on what books and from where you can order them.
How much does the exam cost?
The fees vary depending on the type of exam (paper-based or web-based) and level of exam. Please contact exams@loyalistexams.com for specific exam cost.
Who do I contact regarding specific information on writing or rewriting my exam?
Contact exams@loyalistexams.com for a copy of our Details Form which is to be completed and returned to itilorders@loyalistexams.com. Credit card information will be necessary before an exam session can be set up. You will then be given an exam session ID from the order desk, allowing you to register for your exam at LCMS.

What are the options for setting up a Foundation Exam Session?
There are two (2) options and both require advance notice, credit card payment (VISA or MC) and costs $150. USD (plus GST if you live in Canada).
Web-based exams – require eight (8) business days notice and the candidate is responsible for arranging a proctor.
Paper-based exams – require eleven (11) business days notice and either the accredited training provider or LCS will assign a proctor. If LCS assigns a proctor there is a $240 USD fee.
Who can be my exam supervisor/proctor?
They can be a colleague as long as you don\’t directly report to each other and they should not be related to you. We send instructions to your proctor, including a non-disclosure form that needs to be completed prior to sending the exam login information.
Where can the exam be taken?
It should not be taken at a private residence and is usually done on an office computer.
Which exams do not need to go through a training provider and allow me to self-study?
The only exam that does not require an accredited training provider is the Foundation exam. All other exams require completion of training from an accredited training provider to write the exam.
Do you have any sample exams?
If you are self studying for the Foundation level exam, you can email us at exams@loyalistexams.com and request a copy of the sample exams. For all other sample exams, please contact your Training Provider.

What are the pass rates for exams?
Exams are marked within 48 hours after they are returned to our office. An automatic email goes out immediately. If you take the web based exam you will find out your results at the end of the exam. Service Manager exams take 4-6 weeks becuase they are in written form and must be sent to makers.
When will I receive the mark from my exam?

What does it mean when the exam is moderated?
When new exams are developed and initially piloted, a review process is conducted where every exam question and result is scrutinized to ensure the question is appropriate and clear. As a result, marks may be adjusted. If so, the marks are always made in favour of the candidate.
I failed my exam. Is there a waiting period before I can rewrite it?
There is no waiting period to rewrite. You may write as soon as you set up a new exam session. There is a 14 day waiting period if you have requested a review, allowing time to study the areas needing improvement.
How many times can I rewrite the exam?
You can rewrite as many times as it takes to pass the exam but there will be a fee each time.
What is the appeal process?
If after reviewing the exam you feel there are some discrepancies, you can appeal your result for a fee of $250 USD which is to set up and organize the appeal. Appeal Process
What is the exam review process?
There is an exam fee of $125 USD and a shipping/proctor fee of $260 USD as the exam is shipped to a proctor in your local area. You can then review the exam but you cannot keep anything when you leave the review. All notes and contents must remain with the proctor to protect the security and integrity of the exam.
