What is the name of the official study guide for the ITILĀ® v.3 Scheme?

The ITILĀ® v.3 Lifecycle Publication Suite. This study guide is used for all levels of ITILĀ®; Foundation, Intermediate and Expert.

How many books are required for the ITILĀ® v.3 Scheme?

Five (5)

What is the main difference between the ITILĀ® v.2 and v.3?

Version 2 of ITILĀ® is processed based compared to Version 3 which is lifecycle based.

How do I get ITILĀ® certified?

The ITILĀ® Qualification Scheme allows you to earn credits for each of the exams you take. There are four (4) levels:

  1. Foundation
  2. Intermediate (includes Lifecycle and Capability Streams)
  3. Expert
  4. Master

What are the names of the Intermediate Lifecycle Modules?

Service Strategy (SS), Service Design (SD), Service Transition (ST), Service Operations (SO) and Continual Service Improvement (CSI).

Not all Lifecycle modules and exams must be taken; a combination of both modules (lifecycle and capability) is necessary.

What are the names of the Intermediate Capability Modules?

Operational Support and Analysis (OSA), Service Offerings and Agreements (SOA), Release, Control and Validation (RCV) and Planning, Protection and Optimization (PPO).

Not all Capability modules and exams must be taken; a combination of both modules (lifecycle and capability) are necessary.

How many credits are required to obtain the ITILĀ® Expert?

Minimum of 22 credits which includes 5 credits from Managing Across the Lifecycle, a compulsory exam.

What is the ITILĀ® Qualification Board?

The Qualification Board is comprised of representatives from the official ITILĀ® Accreditor, APM Group, Examination Institutes and the Chief Examiner, among others. This group is responsible for the development and implementation of the ITILĀ® v.3 Qualification Scheme.
